Allegiances take the form of one's alignment along ethical and moral lines, and the organisations or ideologies to which one adheres. A character may choose up to 4 allegiances; these can be their ethical and moral outlook, individual people, entire groups, companies, nations, or even ideologies. A character ranks their allegiances in order from most to least important or adhered to. This determines a character's priorities and shows where their values lie. For example, a character may have "Army, lawful, Buddhism" as their set of allegiances; this character would act in the best interests of the Army before anything else, even if it breaks the law--however, they would try to adhere to the law as best they could, and certainly wouldn't break the law to further a Buddhist ideology, even if they adhere to Buddhism.
Having allegiances implies that a character is intelligent enough or wise enough to understand concepts of group dynamics, the consequences of their actions, and be able to have an understanding of what they're thinking and doing. A character must have an Intelligence and a Wisdom score of 3 or higher to have allegiances.
A character may be stripped of his or her allegiance (and all of its benefits) if he or she demonstrates a lack of regard to it and may be assigned a more suitable or accurate one by the GM. Further actions in roleplay can regain that allegiance.

Ethics pertains to how strongly one adheres to a set of rules or a code; or, more simply, one's attitude towards order. A person with a Lawful alignment tends to respect authority, tradition, and rules, and expects the same from others. A person with a Chaotic disposition tends to follow his or her instincts and whims, consider new ideas, and behave in a subjective and open manner.
Moral philosophy pertains to how much one is willing to violate the rights and feelings of others; or, simple put, one's attitude towards other people. A person with a Good alignment will go out of their way to help others or protect them. A person with an Evil alignment is more willing to hurt, oppress, debase, or kill others, sometimes going out of their way to do so.

Ideologies are based around certain philosophies or religions, many of which have a political manifestation. Such ideologies and political groups include:

Persons and Groups include a leader or superior, a friend, a family, or a group of linked individuals. The latter includes broad sections of society like an ethnicity or a social class, or more coherent groups like a platoon or squad in the military.

Organisations can range in various sizes and include companies and corporations, formal groups of like-minded individuals, fraternal societies, branches of the military, local or national government agencies, a university, an employer, a trade association, or any other kind of establishment or authority.

Nations typically indicate large swathes of spaces ruled by a particular state. In the Milky Way, all nations have be absorbed into the Central Galactic Union.
The largest unified government ever envisaged in the Galaxy, the CGU is the culmination of the National Humanist policies that dominated the former Terran Empire and its allies. The new republican government abolished the monarchy and political parties, politically unifying the whole galaxy under one, centralised state. The CGU is a cultural patchwork of Terran, Orionese, Sagittarian, Perseid, and other human cultural groups. Despite their seemingly disparate cultures, they are united by a militaristic and revolutionary fervour for the newfound human nation, and by a common peerage, currency, and economy.

Many nations existed up until 3275. Nation-states tended to have a particular identity based around the native species of their territory. The occasional rebel and insurrectionist maintains some allegiance to these former nations, and their remnant governments.

There are some specific organisations to which characters may acquire membership. These include government agencies, criminal groups, corporations, military units, and other groups. Membership in these organisations may grant certain privileges or special access.
